An Inside Look to Weddings and Mitzvahs Post Pandemic

Over the past year, so much has changed - the way we work, the way we interact, the way we transport...but especially, the way we celebrate.

Birthdays, work promotions, graduations, and holiday parties have all drastically changed in the way they are carried out. We turn to Zoom and other online platforms just to “see” each other and we share stories, laughs, and memories. But, let’s be real, it isn’t the same.

Now, a year later, as the vaccine becomes more readily available to the mass public, the weather gets warmer, and our numbers decrease, we are looking at rejoining life (and celebrating it of course!)

Two markets specifically that have been affected arguably the most amongst the pandemic are Weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Not only can we not gather in large numbers, but the way we carry out food service, dancing, live music, or gift giving has to be all rethought for the safety of everyone involved. These preventative measures, in a way, take away from the spotlight of the special someone(s) and shift focus to the coronavirus. We can’t wait till that’s over! These measures look like rapid COVID testing, sanitation stations, temperature and wellness checks, for example. Truth be told, we think these measures will continue to take place in the coming seasons, but there’s more…

Here are four ways weddings and bar/bat mitzvah will change even after the pandemic:

Smaller and More Intimate Events

Though living through the pandemic has been anything but rainbows and sunshine, we have found that it has forced us to have smaller gatherings, which in turn result in a more wholesome experience. We went back to what weddings and mitzvahs were supposed to be: intimate.

Having smaller gatherings, we are able to spend quality time celebrating with those that mean most to us, not all the plus ones and extended family we don’t always really talk to (or like). By not inviting so many people, it has also allowed for money to be saved and reinvested in things that really matter to that special someone(s). Instead of 75 catering plates, we have 20. Now we can invest that money in the invitations we really want, the decorations we really care for, and the dress of our dreams.

I guess it’s not all bad, right?

Larger Focus on Sanitary Measures

The pandemic has caused us to be more cautious and aware of how unsanitary we were living in the past, how quickly germs can spread, and their overall impact on human life. However, vendors have adapted excellently well to the pandemic, tapping into their creative sides in the way they distribute food, for example.

Hospitality will be at the Forefront

After the pandemic, several experts predict that couples or families will want to tap into their most hospitable sides as they look forward to having family, friends, and loved ones gather again.

This could potentially increase the idea of a ‘wedding weekend’ or ‘weekend celebration’ for weddings and mitzvahs. Of course meaning, more personalized events, gifts, planning, and invitations! Which we are here for.

Outdoor Venues Will Remain Popular

As we’ve spent the majority of time indoors over the past year, we have come to appreciate the outdoors more and more. Because of this, experts predict that outdoor venues will remain popular even after the pandemic. Signifying that warm weather months will continue to be of significance, or creative heating measures for outdoor spaces will still be of interest.

However, no need to worry. Invites Ink adapts with the times, which is why we have SO many natural themed, outdoorsy, floral based options for your invitations.
